Britney gets….oh, who cares.
Hello avid readers. Not a whole lot has been going on lately, but I did find something to talk about. This time I’m not venting or ranting about anything either. I’m going to throw out the discussion about how the media and public can’t get enough of the whole Britney Spears quickie wedding and annulment. Is this all we have to talk and worry about? People have been talking more about this than the capture of Saddam. NASA landed on Mars with a probe and have been exploring and taking good pictures of the landscape. We’ve got the 2004 Presidential election coming up soon. So much more important stuff going on in the world and what are the people interested in? Britney Spears’ marriage in Las Vegas to Jason Allen Alexander. So what?!?! In a recent article on People.com, it was reported that Britney called in to Mtv’s TRL and was quoted to saying, “It’s crazy,” she said with a laugh, adding: “We landed on Mars that day — why aren’t they talking about that?”
I’m reminded of the movie “Natural Born Killers” directed by Oliver Stone. It showed how the media glorified the killers and followed their every move and people would hang on every word and wait and watch. Because of the media, people are so interested in the rich and famous. But you notice they don’t go after everyone. It’s like there’s only a select few that actually get noticed and talked about. I was watching TBN (the Christian TV channel) yesterday, and Mr. T (of the hit 80’s show, The A-Team) was on there basically preaching the gospel and his thoughts and feelings. (Growing up watching The A-Team, it was kind of humorous to see Mr. T in such a state. They even showed a music video he made (which looked like it was made back in the 80’s). My point is, you don’t hear people talking about that! Why? Because it’s not “juicy gossip”. But no, Britney Spears getting married in Vegas is. Was she drunk? Was she hopped up on something? People want to know. They have an uncontrolled desire to delve into the lives of the people they can’t be. It’s almost a sickness, really. “Can’t wait to see what the people have to gossip about tomorrow,” he said sarcasticly.
