I’ve learned something today
I got into a “discussion” last night with my fiancé about listening when people are trying to tell you something you think is important and the other is being bull-headed and stubborn. Needless to say, I actually won this argument after a long deliberation.
Sometimes we need to just shut the hell up and listen to what others are saying. It may not make sense when it’s being thrown at us and we’re in a state of denial or stubbornness and just want the situation to go as we wish it would, but after you sit back or it comes around in a couple days later, we realize that maybe the other person actually knew what they were talking about. I know I find myself guilty of this. It’s human nature to want to “rebel” against the grain and try to make something work even if we know it may not and then to deny everything once it’s brought before us. For some people it’s born into us and we’re raised to think a certain way, for others, it takes a huge mistake to wake them up and realize all that they are doing and how to work on correcting themselves. But no matter how much you tell a frog it’s green, it may not always believe you.
Are these the obscure ramblings of a madman or simply the thoughts of a person who has made a lot of mistakes in his life and just wants to help the ones he loves by showing them their mistakes and working through them.
